Limerick Institute of Technology, in collaboration with the Environmental Science Association of Ireland (ESAI), will host the 20th Irish Environmental Researchers’ Colloquium - ENVIRON 2010 - from Wednesday, 17th to Friday, 19th February 2010.  The ENVIRON colloquium is Ireland’s largest annual environmental conference which aims to link environmental researchers with important environmental issues and concerns; its principal objective is to nurture and promote environmental research and associated innovative technologies. Teagasc: Outlook 2010 - Economics of Agriculture

The Teagasc event entitled “Outlook 2010 - Economics of Agriculture” was held in Portlaoise on Friday January the 15th. Topics included Farm Incomes and the Macro Economy, Farm Incomes Investments & Borrowing, Costs of Production in Farming, Tillage, Cattle and Sheep, Dairy, Pigs, Forestry, CAP after 2013: a Concept for the long view, Negotiations on CAP 2013+: state of play and issues emerging in the debate. Belfast date for first UK National Rural Network Conference

South and East Cork Area Development Ltd (SECAD) has commissioned John Cronin & Associates to deliver a training programme in village and area enhancement for local community groups. Community groups seeking funding from SECAD Ltd for projects under the Rural Development Programme will be required to prepare Village or Area Enhancement Plans for their own district. Rural Economies Recession Intelligence: Report 10

The UK based Commission for Rural Communities published the 10th of their regular reports to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the impacts of the credit crunch and recession on rural economies and communities. It covers up to the end of 2009 and looks at the impact of the recession on rural businesses. [Read more ...]

‘People and their Place’ Landscape Conference

The Report of the Heritage Council Landscape Conference held in Tullamore in October 2009 is now available. The Heritage Council is using the Tullamore Report as a further resource to assist it in developing priorities for its submission on the National Landscape Strategy, currently being prepared by the Department of Environment Heritage and Local Government as part of the Programme for Government.
