Pat McLoughlin elected Vice-President of EU Agricultural Co-operatives Federation (COGECA)

ICOS President Pat McLoughlin has been elected as a Vice-President of the EU Agricultural Co-operatives Confederation COGECA. The Confederation represents the interests of some 40,000 farmer co-operatives employing some 660,000 people and with a global annual turnover in excess of three hundred billion euro throughout Europe.

Mr. McLoughlin is presently in his second term of office as President of the Irish Co-operative Organisation Society (ICOS). He farms a commercial dairy herd at Garrykennedy, near Nenagh, Co Tipperary. He is Chairman of the IMQCS, (Irish Milk Quality Co-operative Society), a Board member and former Chairman of Arrabawn Co-operative and is also on the Area Committee of Central Auctions Services Co-operative.

ICOS represents over 150 co-operative businesses and organisations with a combined 150,000 individual members, 12,000 employees in Ireland and overall business turnover of some €10 billion. Irish agricultural exports contribute over € 8.1 billion to the Irish economy each year and the sector accounts for 8.5% of national employment.
