One of the roles of the Irish National Rural Network (NRN) is to attend bi-annual LEADER subcommittee meetings arranged by the European Network for Rural Development (EN RD) on behalf of the European Commission. These meetings are to discuss issues relating to Axis 4 (the LEADER Approach) of the Rural Development Programme 2007 – 2013.

At a LEADER subcommittee meeting held on the 28th of April the Irish National Rural Network was asked to moderate an afternoon discussion about the support needs of key organisations involved in the Programme. Below is the informal report compiled by the Irish NRN to reflect the discussion at that meeting. A formal report from the European Commission will be provided in due course.
